Local sources reported that Israeli warplanes carried out more than 12 airstrikes on the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, on Thursday afternoon, targeting multiple sites across the southern and central parts of the city.
According to the sources, the strikes hit the Political Security headquarters in the Hadda district, the National Security headquarters in the Old City, as well as military sites in the Al-Sabeen area and other unspecified locations.
Hebrew media reported that the strikes focused on senior military figures and command centers. Channel 12 confirmed that the operation concluded after a wave of aerial bombardments.
The escalation comes just one day after the Houthi group launched two drones toward the Israeli cities of Eilat and Beersheba in southern occupied Palestine.
Israel’s public broadcaster reported that the Eilat attack injured around 50 people, including three in critical condition, after one of the drones struck a tourist area with several hotels.
The Israeli military said that the Iron Dome system attempted to intercept the drone by firing two missiles, but both attempts failed. A preliminary investigation by the Israeli Air Force revealed that the drone was not detected early and traveled approximately 1,800 kilometers from Yemen before striking its target directly.
