Yemeni Foreign Minister Dr. Shaea Al-Zandani held talks on Monday with his Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, focusing on regional political developments, with particular emphasis on Houthi attacks against navigation in the Red Sea and their threat to global trade security and economic stability in both countries and the wider region.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, also addressed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation between Yemen and Egypt.
Al-Zandani praised the strong historical ties between the two nations, reaffirming the Yemeni government’s aspiration to prepare for a strategic dialogue, convene the joint high committee, and activate bilateral mechanisms to expand cooperation, especially in encouraging joint investments and economic projects.
Both sides agreed on the importance of continued consultation and coordination with regional partners, particularly Saudi Arabia, to support the Yemeni government in addressing security challenges and advancing economic recovery. They also emphasized strengthening bilateral cooperation and consultation on issues of mutual concern in the interest of both peoples.
