Yemen’s Customs Authority announced that customs officers at the Sarfait border crossing, in coordination with security agencies, successfully seized a shipment containing more than 3,000 dual-use electronic components that could potentially be used in drone technologies and explosive devices.
In a statement issued on Friday, the authority said the confiscated items included over 90 types of electronic components, such as fiber-optic welding devices, programmable circuit boards, sensors, connecting cables, and other equipment subject to special restrictions due to the possibility of their use for illicit purposes.
The Director-General of Sarfait Customs, Ahmed Bakrit, stated that the operation was carried out in accordance with customs law and current regulations, and under the direct directives of Prime Minister Salem bin Buraik, Al-Mahra Governor Mohammed Ali Yasser, and Customs Authority Chairman Abdulhakim Redman Al-Qubati, as part of national efforts to combat smuggling and safeguard national security.
Bakrit affirmed that customs officers would continue performing their duties with full responsibility, vowing zero tolerance toward any illegal goods or materials that may threaten Yemen’s security and stability.
