Two drone strikes - believed to be carried out by U.S. aircraft - hit suspected al-Qaeda positions in the Khura area of Markha Al-Sufla District, eastern Shabwa Governorate, on Sunday evening, according to local sources.
The sources said the airstrikes were launched in two successive waves within a short interval, targeting locations and vehicles reportedly used by the group’s fighters. The attacks resulted in multiple casualties, including field commanders, and the destruction of several vehicles.
Residents reported hearing loud explosions across different parts of the district and seeing columns of fire and smoke rising from the targeted sites.
